| Richard began his affair with computers after using a Commodore PET
at the age of 12, then after using a friends BBC Micro to get into Basic
he got his first computer, a Newbrain (old Z80). His first programs were
a Space Invaders then a Manic Miner clone. His break came when Micro Power
sold him a cheap Amstrad CPC to develop games on. Using this machine and
Devpac he produced FlySpy at the grand old age of 14. Mastertronic took
up the game paying him £1000 and 10p royalty per copy. After some freelance
work for them, aged 17, he signed up full time. Amongst his computer credits
are some non-games software such as the disk copier Cyclone and the Game
Genie (he also did an unreleased Game Genie 2). By the mid nineties, though
still developing software, he was no longer working on games.
